The meadow is soft this morning — cool dew on the grass, a quiet fog hanging in the swale, sun just peeking over the trees. Snack Lady hummed when she came through the gate this morning, which usually means it’s a peaceful day ahead. I like those. Calm mornings are good for chewing and thinking.
We’ve all been told that Musings from the Meadow is starting today — a place where our voices can wander out beyond the fence line. Snack Lady says folks might like to hear what life looks like from down here in the grass among the Dexter cows at Mountain Heritage Farm.
I suppose she’s right.
We notice things she sometimes misses while she’s carrying feed buckets or working the milk machine.
There’s a rhythm to this life of a family milk cow: milk and rest, sunshine and rain, trust built one gentle day at a time. The Lord made it so — steady and sure, even when the world beyond the pasture seems loud. Out here, His lessons come quietly: patience in waiting for new grass, gratitude in every full milk bucket, mercy in a gentle hand.
So consider this our first hello. We’ll share the little stories that make up our days — the Snack House chatter, the calf mischief, the miracles tucked between chores. Maybe you’ll see your own lessons in them, too.
